Battle Buddy Volunteers

Battle Buddies are veterans who provide the vital peer support necessary to keep our clients on track with their treatment and legal needs.  They interface with treatment providers and attorneys to understand the requirements the client faces and assist in finding resources to help the veteran client complete them and transition successfully after inpatient treatment or incarceration.  Battle Buddies are socially active and involved in healthy recreational activities in the community.  They set the example for their Battle Buddy in how to remain free from substance abuse and crime.  They engage in activities with the veteran focused on healthy living and community contributions as well as activities of interest.  Battle Buddies can expect to spend approximately 10 hours a month in direct contact with the veteran and additional time for email and phone contacts.  Battle Buddies will be required to attend monthly training meeting that will focus on specific topics to keep them informed and equipped.  Community service projects and social activities will be organized as well.
